A few days ago I had dinner at Bann in Koreatown with a few of my high school friends. The restaurant was more upscale and spacious than any other Korean restaurant that I've been to. I'm used to the crowded, smoky, loud all you can eat type of Korean BBQ restaurants so Bann was a nice change of atmosphere for me. Of course to walk into an upscale Asian restaurant with a bar/lounge area with great service also means that you should expect to pay more than what your money is worth. We ordered the bulgogi, dak gui (I think that's chicken right?), calamari, tofu, and the shaved ice. What stood out most to me was the tofu, not in a good way. The chef had came out to assembled the dish at our table, which had led me to believe that the tofu was going to amazing. Sadly, amazing it was not...well not to me anyway. I love soft tofu and Bann's artisanal tofu tasted like a sponge. Aside from the tofu, Bann was a nice dining experience.
